Introducing ASAP's HESA Student of the Month for October: Michelle Ng!
Michelle Ng is a second year full-time HESA student, a New York native, a first-generation student, and a self-identifying queer cis-woman of color. She completed her undergraduate degree at CUNY Hunter College with a major in English Literature and a double minor in Asian American Studies and Sociology. Through the HESA program, she works as a Graduate Assistant at NYU Silver School of Social Work’s Office of MSW Admissions and Enrollment.
When she’s not at work or in class, Michelle keeps busy with her extra-curriculars—beginning with her involvement within the HESA program and spanning out toward the larger NYU community. Through ASAP, she has served as a Welcome committee leader during Recruitment days, a volunteer for NYU’s Student Affairs Conference, and a panelist during Steinhardt’s Diversity in Education event.  She also currently holds leadership positions as the Senator of Steinhardt’s Graduate School Organization and the Publicity and Development Chair for HESA’s Journal of Student Affairs. Her mission as a leader includes supporting students of marginalized identities, promoting utilization of health and wellness resources, and helping shape strategic university-wide actions that will contribute to student success. After she graduates, Michelle hopes to continue to work in enrollment management in a large urban institution.
In her pastime, Michelle loves to travel, cook, watch Broadway shows/ musicals, and has a goal to pet all the dogs in the world.
