Introducing ASAP's HESA Student of the Month for March: Cassie!
"I am currently a first-year full-time student in NYU’s Higher Education and Student Affairs program, and interning as the Student Life Coordinator at Steven’s Institute of Technology’s Office of Graduate Student Affairs. I was drawn to the program as it was the perfect mix of theory (class) and practice (internship and opportunities), allowing me to further develop as an engaged scholar. In my internship I work with graduate students- advising Graduate Student Council, Graduate Research Conference, clubs and organizations, coordinating Women’s Program, and assisting with orientation and commencement. I enjoy working with this population of students because it challenges me to find ways to intertwine academics and student affairs. Also, NYU’s HESA has provided me with opportunities to be reflective and contribute my voice to the student affairs community. Last month I was the graduate keynote speaker at the 2017 Student Affairs Conference at NYU, where I shared how the misspelling of my name has provided me the opportunity to better understand my Korean American social identity (my name is spelt Cassie but pronounced Casey)." Cassie is a first-year, full-time graduate student in the program. Keep a look out for our HESA Student of the Month for April! |
